Al Pra is located on the eastern shore of Lago di Garda, Italy's largest freshwater lake. The coastline faces east toward the water, with predominantly rocky and vegetated terrain backing the shore. A small residential settlement occupies the western portion with developed infrastructure visible.
This spot presents significant challenges for kitesurfing. With average winds of only 5.3 knots and wind reliability of just 1.1%, conditions rarely meet the minimum 12-15 knots typically required for kitesurfing. The lake's enclosed geography limits fetch distance, resulting in minimal wave development. The eastern orientation means side-shore conditions require northerly or southerly winds, which occur infrequently.
The shallow water near the residential area, combined with boat traffic and rocky outcrops, creates additional hazards. The rocky shoreline offers limited space for launching and landing. This location is better suited for other water sports during marginal wind periods rather than dedicated kitesurfing sessions. Kiters should seek alternative Garda locations or larger lake systems with more consistent wind patterns.
