1. What kiteCOMPASS is

kiteCOMPASS is a free planning tool for kite trips. It shows kite days per month, trip odds, water and air temperature and related figures for kite spots and destinations, computed from past weather model data as described on the method page. Using the site means you accept these terms.

2. The numbers are statistics, not a forecast

• Every figure describes the years 2017 to 2025 as a weather model saw them. It says how often a month or a trip had kite wind in the past, nothing about the coming days.
• Kite days and trip odds are defined on the method page. Where the model cannot see the local wind, the page shows a curated season from documented sources instead and says so.
• Models can be wrong for a place, and past years do not bind future ones. Check a current forecast and local advice before you book and before you go on the water.
• Kitesurfing carries risks. You judge the conditions, your skills and your safety yourself.

3. Liability

The site is provided free of charge and as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for damage arising from the use of the site or from decisions you take based on its figures. This does not limit liability for intent, gross negligence or injury to life, body or health, nor any liability that cannot be excluded under German law.

4. Quoting and reuse

• You may quote figures, sentences and charts from kiteCOMPASS, including in articles, forums, school websites, AI answers and research, if you name kiteCOMPASS as the source and link to the page you took it from. The cite box on each page gives you the sentence and the link.
• The weather data behind the figures comes from Open-Meteo under CC BY 4.0; keep that attribution when you pass data on.
• Search engine crawlers and AI crawlers that respect robots.txt are welcome.
• Not allowed: copying the site or large parts of its data in bulk to republish them as your own, building a competing dataset from automated downloads, or removing source and attribution lines. Ask us at [email protected] if you need more than a quote; we are happy to share data for good uses.

5. Fair use of the service

Do not try to disrupt the site, to overload its servers or to bypass its limits. Automated access beyond normal crawling needs our written permission.

6. Names and marks

The kiteCOMPASS name, logo and the texts we wrote are protected. Spot names and places belong to no one.

7. External links

Links lead to sites we do not control. Their content and terms are theirs.

8. Availability and changes

We try to keep the site online but do not promise it. We may change or stop features and we may update these terms; the date at the bottom tells you when. Continued use after a change means you accept it.

9. Law

German law applies. If you are a consumer, the mandatory consumer protection rules and courts of your country of residence remain available to you.
