Iskenderun is a protected bay on Turkey's southern Mediterranean coast, facing generally westward into the Levantine Sea. The spot is characterized by urban development along the shoreline with visible residential areas, marina facilities, and constructed coastal infrastructure. The bay provides relatively sheltered water conditions suitable for beginners due to low wave energy and protected fetch. Wind reliability is poor at only 1.4%, making consistent sessions difficult. Average wind speed of 5.4 knots is marginal for kitesurfing and often below minimum riding conditions. Best wind direction is northerly (side-shore parallel to the coast), though such winds occur infrequently. Water conditions are calm with minimal swell penetration. The spot suits learners when wind is available due to shallow, protected water and absence of significant wave action. However, the combination of extremely low wind reliability, minimal swell, and urban boat traffic makes this a challenging location for regular kitesurfing. Sessions should only be attempted during rare strong wind events. Better alternatives likely exist elsewhere on the Turkish coast.
