Lhoknga

Lhoknga is a beach break located on the northwestern coast of Aceh, Indonesia, facing northwest toward the Indian Ocean. The spot features a wide sandy beach with a shallow lagoon system separated from deeper water by a visible sandbar. The coastline is backed by residential areas and agricultural land. Wave conditions are modest, averaging 1.29m, making this suitable for beginners and flat-spell training. Wind reliability is poor at 5.2%, with average winds around 6.4 knots. Optimal conditions occur with northeast winds (45°) providing side-shore conditions. The shallow lagoon and nearshore features create a protected environment but limit wave potential. Visible rocky areas and the river mouth require careful navigation. Access is straightforward from the populated area, though local knowledge of tidal variations in the lagoon system is beneficial. This spot functions better as a light-wind training ground than a primary kitesurfing destination.
