Samila Beach is a protected lagoon area on Thailand's Andaman coast, characterized by shallow, flat water enclosed by dense mangrove vegetation and sandy beaches. The coastline faces northwest toward a sheltered lagoon environment rather than open ocean exposure. The spot is heavily developed with port facilities, industrial infrastructure, and adjacent residential areas visible on the mainland, indicating significant human activity and boat traffic. Wind conditions are severely limited by the surrounding mangrove forest and mainland topography, creating a sheltered environment with minimal wind acceleration. The extremely low wind reliability (0.6%) and minimal average wind speed (4.1 knots) make this location challenging for kitesurfing regardless of direction. Water remains flat and shallow, suitable only for absolute beginners on very rare windy days. The presence of industrial facilities, boat traffic, and navigation channels creates additional hazards. This spot is best avoided for dedicated kitesurfing practice due to wind unreliability, shallow confined waters, and infrastructure obstacles. Nearby exposed beaches would offer superior conditions.
