Santa Rosa Dam is an inland freshwater lake located in central Mexico, approximately 100km northwest of Guadalajara. The water body is oriented east-west with developed agricultural areas on the western shore and residential/industrial areas to the east. This is a protected inland water body surrounded by productive farmland and small settlements.
The spot experiences extremely light wind conditions with an average of only 4.9 knots and zero reliability, making it marginal for kitesurfing. Wind from the north would provide the most suitable side-shore conditions relative to the eastern shoreline. Water visibility is compromised by agricultural runoff and sediment, typical of inland reservoirs in farming regions.
This location suits only dedicated beginners willing to accept inconsistent conditions. The minimal wind and small fetch limit session quality. Infrastructure related to the dam and irrigation systems may present navigational constraints. Shallow areas extend from the shoreline, requiring careful launching and landing. The murky water visibility increases difficulty in assessing depth and hazards. Wind reliability data suggests this is not a practical destination for regular kitesurfing practice.
