Cloudbreak is a world-renowned reef break located off the coast of Fiji in the South Pacific. The spot features consistent, powerful waves generated by swells approaching from the open ocean. The break is characterized by a shallow coral reef that creates the distinctive tube formations and hollow sections that made it famous among advanced and expert riders. Water conditions are warm year-round, averaging 26°C. The spot faces westward toward the open ocean, providing excellent fetch for Southern Hemisphere swells. Optimal wind conditions are from the north (side-shore), creating clean faces and organized swell patterns. Cloudbreak is not suitable for beginners or intermediate kiters due to the powerful reef break, strong currents in the takeoff area, and the skill required to navigate the limited launch and landing zones. Wave heights typically reach 1-3 meters but can build significantly during larger swell events. The area experiences moderate wind reliability at 6.3%, making sessions dependent on favorable weather windows. Kiters must have advanced wave-riding skills, strong swimming ability, and understanding of reef hazards.
