Shallow reef creating wave breaks, suited for experienced riders
About This Spot
Mini Cloudbreak is a reef break located in Fiji's Coral Coast region, positioned on the western side of Viti Levu island. The spot breaks over a shallow coral reef system with water facing northeast into the open Pacific. This is an advanced to expert-level spot characterized by significant wave exposure and reef hazards. The prevailing trade winds from the southeast provide side-shore conditions when blowing from the northwest (315°). Best conditions occur during the southern hemisphere winter (June-August) when wind reliability increases and swells are more consistent. The spot generates hollow, powerful waves that break over shallow coral, making it suitable only for experienced kiters with strong wave-riding skills and reef awareness. Water conditions are rough with strong currents typical of reef passes and exposed breaks. Kiters should have extensive experience with reef navigation, understand tidal influences on water depth, and be prepared for challenging recovery situations. The limited wind reliability (6.3%) indicates this is a seasonal destination rather than a year-round venue.
