Tuxpan is located at the mouth of the Río Tuxpan on Mexico's Gulf Coast, where the river delta meets the Gulf of Mexico. The spot sits within an active industrial and petrochemical port facility, with extensive oil storage infrastructure, refineries, and terminal operations dominating the landscape. The coastline faces northwest toward the gulf waters. While the area experiences consistent wind patterns suitable for kitesurfing, the spot is heavily compromised by industrial activity. The shallow delta waters and river discharge create variable water conditions and strong currents. The presence of commercial vessel traffic, mooring pilings, and jetties presents significant operational hazards. Low wind reliability (1.3%) and minimal wave activity (0.80m average) further limit the spot's viability. Best winds would come from the northeast, providing side-shore conditions along the northwest-facing coast. This location is not recommended for recreational kitesurfing due to safety concerns from industrial operations, navigation restrictions, and environmental considerations, despite theoretically suitable coastal orientation.
