Zinnowitz is a bay-facing spot located on Usedom Island in the southern Baltic Sea, Germany. The coastline faces northeast toward a sheltered bay, providing protected conditions from open ocean swells. The spot is characterized by very small waves and choppy water conditions typical of the Baltic, with significant residential and recreational infrastructure visible along the shore including sports facilities and boat areas.
Best conditions occur with northwest to north winds that approach side-shore angles relative to the northeast-facing coastline. However, wind reliability is extremely low at 16.7%, making consistent sessions difficult. Water temperatures average 10.2°C, requiring thermal protection most of the year.
This spot is most suitable for beginners due to minimal wave exposure, shallow water, and protected bay conditions. The low wind reliability and very small average wave height limit progression potential. Kiters should be aware of nearby residential areas, boat traffic, and sports infrastructure. The spot works best during rare wind windows when northwesterly winds develop. Water is typically choppy rather than organized, making wave riding secondary to flat-water freestyle or directional riding.
