Achakar

Achakar is a beach break located on Morocco's northern Atlantic coast near Tangier. The spot features a sandy beach facing southwest toward open ocean, with a lagoon system behind it separated by a sandbar. The narrow lagoon entrance creates tidal and current considerations. Rocky outcrops flank both sides of the beach, and elevated terrain with dense vegetation borders the inland area. Wind reliability is relatively low at 22.2%, with light average winds of 8.7 knots and modest wave heights around 1.21m. Best conditions occur with side-shore winds from the east or southeast, which provide safe offshore-to-sideshore conditions. The spot suits intermediate kiters comfortable with variable wind, rocky features, and tidal dynamics. Access is somewhat constrained by residential infrastructure and natural terrain. Water conditions vary between the exposed beach break and sheltered lagoon, requiring local knowledge. Winter months typically offer better wind and swell conditions.
