Alimini

Alimini is a protected bay located on the Adriatic coast of southern Italy, near Otranto in Puglia. The spot sits within a scenic bay bounded by rocky coastlines and dense Mediterranean vegetation. The northwest-facing shore provides natural wind channeling from the Adriatic, though prevailing conditions are inconsistent with only 17.7% wind reliability. The bay's enclosed nature limits fetch distance, resulting in modest wave heights around 0.77m. Water conditions are typically choppy rather than organized, particularly during variable wind periods. This is primarily a beginner-friendly flatwater spot suited for developing light-wind techniques and freestyle skills. The shallow, protected waters near shore minimize consequence for learning mistakes. Launching and landing space is limited due to dense vegetation. Rocky sections require careful beach access. Best conditions occur with northeast winds providing side-shore flow. This spot works well during shoulder seasons and calm periods when other Mediterranean locations lack wind. Not suitable for wave riding or strong-wind sessions due to limited swell exposure and bay geography.
