Anse a Galets

Anse à Galets is a lagoon-style kitesurfing spot located on Haiti's northern coast near a densely populated settlement. The spot features a protected lagoon separated from open ocean by a natural sand barrier, with mangrove forests and vegetation flanking the water. The northeast-facing coastline creates a sheltered environment with extremely flat water conditions typical of lagoons. Wind reliability is critically low at only 0.1%, making consistent sessions rare. When wind does occur, northwest to north winds would provide side-shore conditions. The shallow lagoon makes this suitable for beginner progression in terms of depth safety, though the extremely inconsistent wind and protected nature limit practical kitesurfing viability. Water temperatures average 28.8°C year-round. The proximity to residential areas and forest obstacles means limited space for maneuvers. This spot is best considered a backup option during exceptional wind events rather than a reliable training destination. Kiters should verify current conditions before visiting due to unpredictable wind patterns.
