Berakas Beach

Berakas Beach is a long, sandy coastal strip in Brunei facing northwest toward the South China Sea. The beach is backed by dense tropical forest with visible limestone cliffs and clearings. The spot features a classic beach break setup with gentle sloping sand and light swell penetration. Water conditions are extremely calm with minimal wave development and very weak wind patterns. The 0.0% wind reliability indicates this location receives inadequate and inconsistent wind for regular kitesurfing activity. Average wind speed of 3.8 knots is well below the 10-12 knot minimum typically required for the sport. Small average wave heights of 0.48m provide minimal water movement. This spot is technically accessible for beginners when wind does materialize, as shallow water and sandy bottom reduce injury risk. However, the location is practically unsuitable for consistent practice due to meteorological constraints. Kiters should investigate nearby exposed coastlines or offshore areas where wind channeling may be more favorable.
