Cavaleiros

Cavaleiros is a beach break located on the southeast-facing coast of Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil. The spot features a sandy beach with a lagoon system behind it, bordered by residential development. The coastline orientation (approximately northeast-southwest) means side-shore winds come from northwest or southeast directions, with northwest (315°) being ideal for kite control and safety. This is primarily a beginner-friendly spot with very small average waves (0.87m) suitable for learning flat-water riding and maneuvers. However, the extremely low wind reliability (1.2%) is a significant limitation - conditions are unpredictable and sessions are difficult to plan. Water temperatures are warm year-round (24.2°C average), eliminating wetsuit requirements. The lagoon areas provide protected shallow water for skill development, though kiters should watch for submerged hazards and rocky outcrops visible in the nearshore zone. Boat traffic in the water warrants attention to collision avoidance. The spot is best suited to riders developing initial skills during rare consistent wind windows.
