Chalupy

Chalupy is a shallow coastal lagoon located on Poland's Baltic Sea coast near Gdańsk Bay. The spot consists of a protected lagoon with a narrow entrance channel, backed by dense vegetation and pine forest. The water is protected from open ocean swell, resulting in minimal wave action (0.75m average). The lagoon serves as both a recreational and commercial mooring field with numerous anchored boats and buoys throughout, requiring careful navigation. Wind reliability is relatively low at 36.3% with average winds of 11 knots, making consistency a concern. The shallow water and soft bottom make this suitable primarily for beginners and intermediate kiters seeking flat-water conditions. Best conditions arrive with easterly winds (90°) that blow parallel to the coastline. Kiters should be prepared for crowded water with boat traffic, exercise caution around mooring lines and buoys, and expect choppy conditions due to wind interaction with surrounding vegetation. Summer months typically offer better conditions with slightly higher wind frequency.
