El Nuro

El Nuro is a beach break located on Peru's northern coast, facing northwest toward the Pacific Ocean. The spot features a sandy beach with direct ocean exposure, backed by arid desert terrain with minimal development except for a small settlement and harbor infrastructure at the southern end. A shallow lagoon system runs parallel to the beach, providing some protection but also creating complexity for water entry and exit. The waters show strong color differentiation indicating variable current patterns typical of upwelling zones. Best conditions occur with northeast winds providing side-shore orientation. The area experiences consistent but moderate swell averaging 1.09m with rough-chop conditions typical of Peruvian coastal breaks. Low wind reliability (12.4%) makes sessions sporadic and dependent on seasonal patterns. The rough water conditions and presence of rocks/obstacles make this spot more suitable for intermediate riders comfortable with variable conditions. Water temperatures around 24°C are manageable year-round. The combination of shallow lagoon areas and direct ocean exposure requires careful spot selection within the break.
