Frigate Bay

Frigate Bay is a sheltered bay on the southeast coast of Saint Kitts facing generally eastward into the Atlantic. The spot features a narrow strip of sandy beach backed by residential and resort development, with shallow lagoon areas and seagrass beds extending offshore. The bay's northern and southern points provide natural wind funneling from the prevailing Atlantic trade winds. Water conditions show consistent rough-chop characteristic of exposed Atlantic-facing locations, with moderate wave energy. The spot suits beginner to early intermediate kiters due to relatively calm bay conditions compared to open ocean exposure, though shallow areas require awareness. Wind reliability is moderate at 45.1%, with average winds of 11.6 knots suitable for lighter-weight kiters. Access is limited by development, and kiters should be aware of shallow seagrass zones and rocky areas. Side-shore winds from the south (approximately 165°) provide the safest configuration for launching and landing. The combination of shallow protected waters and consistent trade winds makes this suitable for skill development, though stronger, more reliable spots exist nearby.
