Water conditions are typically choppy with minimal wave development due to the bay's enclosed nature and limited fetch. With average wind speeds of only 7.3 knots and 4.7% wind reliability, consistent conditions are rare. The extremely small average wave height of 0.52m makes this primarily a light-wind flatwater spot. Best conditions occur with northwest winds that approach side-shore angles across the 45-degree oriented coastline. Malvin suits beginner kiters seeking protected, shallow-water practice areas during rare strong-wind windows.
