North Packery

North Packery is a protected bay located along the Texas coast near Corpus Christi, characterized by shallow, sheltered water and sandy beaches. The bay faces northeast toward the Gulf of Mexico, with a narrow inlet controlled by jetties that separate the bay from open water. The protected nature of this location creates consistent but modest wave conditions (0.79m average) and rough-chop water texture typical of shallow bays. The spot benefits from reduced wind turbulence compared to exposed ocean breaks due to surrounding land and marsh features. Best conditions occur with northwesterly winds, which provide ideal side-shore angles for safe launches and landings. The shallow, debris-free bay bottom and limited fetch make this suitable for beginners and intermediate kiters building skills. However, the low wind reliability (27.5%) and modest average wind speed (10.1 knots) mean sessions require patient wind selection. Navigating around the jetties, shallow sandbars, and occasional boat traffic requires local knowledge. Access points and facilities appear available on the southern portion near the marina complex.
