Orient Beach

Orient Beach is a sheltered bay on the northeast coast of Sint Maarten, characterized by shallow turquoise waters and sandy bottom. The bay opens toward the northeast with residential development lining the western and southern shores. Multiple moored boats indicate this is an active anchorage area. The shallow, protected waters are typical of Caribbean lagoon-bay systems with gradual depth transitions visible in the color gradients. Wind reliability at 53.1% reflects the sheltered nature of this enclosed body of water, reducing consistent thermal and pressure-driven flows. Best conditions occur with northwest to north winds (315°), which blow parallel to the coastline and maintain offshore characteristics. The bay suits beginners and intermediate riders due to manageable waves (averaging 1m) and relatively calm conditions. However, kiters must navigate around moored vessels and avoid the shallow sandbars visible throughout the bay. The rough-chop water type suggests gusty, choppy conditions rather than organized swell. Afternoon heating may generate sea breezes favorable for kitesurfing, though overall wind consistency remains moderate.
