Phan Rang

Phan Rang is a sheltered bay location on Vietnam's south-central coast, facing west toward relatively protected waters. The spot features a notable pier extending into calm shallow waters, with coastal development visible along the shoreline. The bay's orientation and protection create exceptionally light conditions with minimal swell generation. Best wind direction is from the north (0°), providing side-shore conditions parallel to the coastline. This spot suits beginners and those seeking flat-water progression, as wave energy is negligible and water remains sheltered. However, the extremely low wind reliability (8.9%) means sessions are infrequent and unpredictable. When wind does arrive, northerly flows provide ideal side-shore access without strong currents. Kiters should be aware of the pier infrastructure, which presents an obstacle requiring careful navigation and launches/landings away from its structure. The shallow bay waters offer safety for learning but limit wave-riding potential. Suitable primarily for flat-water freestyle and beginner progression rather than wave riding.
