Playa Hermosa

Playa Hermosa is a northwest-facing beach break located along Costa Rica's Pacific coast. The spot features a gently sloping sandy beach with moderate residential development inland and forested hills to the south. The coastline orientation (NW-facing) indicates water exposure to the northwest sector. Best conditions occur with northeast or east winds that provide side-shore conditions parallel to the beach. The spot is characterized by small, consistent waves suitable for beginners and those developing fundamental skills. Water conditions are generally calm with modest swell averaging under 1 meter. However, the extremely low wind reliability (1.5%) and minimal average wind speed (4.6 knots) present significant challenges for kitesurfing. The narrow beach corridor and surrounding development limit operational space. This location is better suited for learning kiteboarding during brief wind windows than for regular progression training. Water temperature averaging 28.4°C is warm year-round, reducing exposure suit requirements.
