Primel-Trégastel

Primel-Trégastel is a small sandy bay located on the north coast of Brittany, France, protected by rocky headlands on both eastern and western sides. The spot features a shallow lagoon-like bay with a sand bar mouth connecting to deeper waters. The bay faces northeast (45°), making northwest winds (315°) ideal for side-shore conditions. The protected nature of the bay makes this a beginner-friendly location with relatively modest wave heights and manageable wind acceleration. However, the narrow bay entrance and moored boats require careful route planning. Wind reliability is low at 28.5%, and average temperatures reflect the Atlantic location. Best conditions occur during autumn and winter swells with consistent Atlantic depressions pushing northwest winds. Intermediate kiters can use the deeper water outside the bay entrance, while beginners benefit from the sheltered conditions inside. Tidal currents and variable water depth require local knowledge. The spot works best on rising tide with 12+ knot northwest winds.
