Pulau Tabuhan

Pulau Tabuhan is a small island lagoon in the Lombok Strait region of Indonesia, characterized by a shallow, enclosed body of water surrounded by a reef system. The satellite imagery shows a crescent-shaped beach on the northeastern shore with turquoise shallow waters typical of tropical lagoons. The spot is sheltered by the island formation, which severely limits wind acceleration and fetch distance. Water conditions are consistently flat with minimal wave development. The lagoon setting provides protected conditions suitable for beginners learning basic kitesurfing skills without ocean swell exposure. However, the extremely low wind reliability (0.5%) makes this spot challenging for regular practice. Optimal conditions require northeast winds at 315° to create side-shore alignment with the northeastern beach. Kiters must be aware of shallow depths, coral structures, and potential entanglement with seagrass or vegetation common in tropical lagoons. This spot is best suited for light-wind sessions or training when stronger winds briefly occur, rather than as a primary kitesurfing destination.
