Rettin is a bay-style kitesurfing spot located on the German Baltic coast near Lübeck. The coastline faces east toward the Lübeck Bay (Lübecker Bucht), providing a protected water body with very light wind exposure and minimal swell generation. The bay's shallow depths and mudflat characteristics make it suitable only for light-wind conditions and flat-water riding. Residential areas and a substantial camping facility occupy the immediate shoreline, limiting space and access. Wind reliability is notably poor at 24.7%, with average winds of only 9.6 knots—below the typical minimum for most kitesurfing. Wave conditions are negligible (0.29m), making this a flat-water spot exclusively. Side-shore winds from the north (0°) or south (180°) would provide the safest angles. The spot suits beginners during rare favorable wind windows, offering minimal hazards from waves but presenting challenges related to shallow water, moored vessels, and restricted land access. Better wind and wave conditions exist elsewhere on the German coast. Visitors should verify wind forecasts carefully before attempting sessions here.
