Sandhammaren

Sandhammaren is a long sandy beach on the east coast of Denmark facing directly into the Baltic Sea. The spot features a gradual sandy bottom with shallow water extending far from shore, typical of Baltic beach breaks. The dense coniferous forest immediately adjacent to the beach provides natural shelter but limits maneuvering space on land. With average wind speeds of 9.9 knots and only 28.2% reliability, conditions are inconsistent and often marginal for kitesurfing. When winds do arrive from the north (side-shore), the protected nature of the water and shallow depths make this suitable for beginners and intermediate kiters. The choppy water conditions reflect typical Baltic characteristics rather than developed wave formation. Best conditions occur during higher wind events, typically in autumn and winter. The spot suits learners due to forgiving shallow water, though low average wind speeds mean sessions should be planned during forecasted wind windows. Summer conditions are particularly light and unpredictable.
