Sichon

Sichon is a small, enclosed bay located on the Gulf of Thailand coast in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The spot features a shallow, silt-laden bay protected by forested headlands on the northeast side. The coastline faces northwest into the bay, with dense mangrove and forest coverage limiting wind penetration. Water conditions are consistently flat with minimal wave action due to the bay's sheltered nature and low average swell (0.38m). Wind reliability is extremely poor at 0.1%, with average winds of only 3.8 knots—well below minimum kitesurfing requirements. The bay contains extensive shallow areas and sandbars, making it suitable only for very light wind conditions and beginners comfortable with minimal wind. Best wind would approach from the northeast or southwest to achieve side-shore conditions. Strong currents from river outflows and abundant shallow hazards require careful navigation. This spot is primarily suited for calm-water practice or flatland freestyle rather than progression-focused sessions. Local knowledge of tide and seasonal variations is essential.
