Simuni

Simuni is a protected lagoon located on the Adriatic coast of Croatia, characterized by shallow, sheltered water surrounded by dense Mediterranean vegetation. The lagoon is enclosed by rocky headlands and connected to the open sea through a narrow channel, creating a contained water body ideal for beginners. The extremely flat water conditions (0.27m average waves) and shallow depth make this spot suitable for learning fundamental kitesurfing skills without significant wave exposure. Best conditions occur with northeasterly winds (45°) that blow side-shore across the lagoon. The low wind reliability (15.7%) and modest average wind speed (7.8 knots) mean sessions are inconsistent. The presence of residential buildings, mooring infrastructure, and boat traffic requires awareness of other water users. Rocky features around the perimeter and shallow bottom throughout demand careful navigation. This spot functions primarily as a flat-water training ground rather than a performance venue, best suited to beginners and intermediate kiters practicing in controlled conditions.
