Suva Lacala Bay

Suva Lacala Bay is a sheltered bay on the southeastern coast of Viti Levu, Fiji, characterized by shallow lagoon waters and extensive tidal flats. The coastline faces eastward toward the water, with the bay opening to the southeast. This is primarily a lagoon-style spot with relatively protected waters surrounded by residential and light industrial development. The extremely low wind reliability (0.1%) and minimal average wind speed (4.1 knots) make this spot highly unpredictable for kitesurfing. Average wave height of 1.07m is marginal for the sport. The shallow bay waters and visible mud flats present navigational challenges and potential shallow-water hazards. Best conditions would occur during rare strong southeast or northeast wind events. This spot is technically accessible to beginners due to sheltered conditions, but consistent wind is extremely unreliable, making it unsuitable as a primary kitesurfing destination. Kiters should seek alternative locations with stronger, more reliable wind patterns.
