Tien Beach

Tien Beach is located in a protected bay on Thailand's eastern coastline, characterized by shallow turquoise waters and mangrove-lined shores. The spot features a gently sloping sandy bottom with intermittent rocky patches and narrow sandbars. The bay configuration provides natural wind acceleration from the south, making southerly winds (180°) the optimal direction for side-shore conditions. However, this location suffers from extremely poor wind reliability at only 4.7%, with average winds of just 6.1 knots—well below the 10-12 knot minimum typically required for kitesurfing. Flat water conditions (0.36m average) make this unsuitable for wave riders but potentially tolerable for freestyle or foil riders during optimal wind windows. The shallow bay environment and mangrove presence limit safe riding areas and complicate water entry/exit. Best suited for complete beginners seeking flat-water practice only, and only during rare favorable wind periods. Wind and water conditions make this location marginal for regular kitesurfing activity.
