Tjurudden Gotland

Tjurudden is a shallow bay located on the west coast of Gotland, Sweden. The spot faces westward into the Baltic Sea with a gently sloping sandy and muddy bottom interspersed with rocks. The bay configuration provides natural protection while allowing side-shore conditions from northerly winds. Water is choppy rather than wave-rich, typical of Baltic conditions. The spot suits beginners and intermediate kiters due to shallow protected waters, though low average wind speeds (8.9 knots) and minimal wave height (0.64m) mean sessions are infrequent. Best conditions occur with north winds providing side-shore flow along the coastline. Kiters should be aware of exposed rocks and shallow mudflats, particularly at low tide when navigation becomes more challenging. The surrounding forests and agricultural land provide scenic setting but indicate limited swell generation. Winter conditions may be more reliable for wind, though water temperatures are cold. This is primarily a flatwater freestyle spot rather than a wave-riding destination.
