About This Spot
Trabucador is a delta and lagoon system located on Spain's eastern coast near the Ebro Delta. The satellite imagery shows a narrow sandy barrier separating shallow lagoonal water from the Mediterranean Sea. The spot features extremely shallow water with extensive mudflats and marsh vegetation, characteristic of deltaic environments. Wind reliability is very low at 5.9%, and average wind speeds of 6.3 knots are marginal for kitesurfing. Wave conditions are minimal at 0.49m average height. The best wind direction for side-shore conditions is from the northwest (315°), which would be parallel to the shoreline orientation. This location suits only experienced kiters comfortable with very light wind conditions and technical shallow-water riding. The primary challenges include navigating shallow depths, avoiding vegetation obstacles, and dealing with inconsistent wind patterns. The muddy bottom makes equipment recovery difficult if dropped. Most viable during winter months when wind patterns may improve, though conditions remain generally light throughout the year.
Hazards & Safety
Shallow water and mudflats throughout the lagoon
Dense vegetation and marsh grass creating obstacles
Narrow channel with limited space for maneuvering
Soft mud bottom reducing ability to recover equipment
