Anse Vata

Anse Vata is a protected lagoon bay located in New Caledonia, characterized by turquoise shallow waters and a curved sandy coastline. The spot consists of two distinct bay sections separated by a headland, with fringing reef structures and established mooring areas. The lagoon environment provides natural protection from open ocean swell but limits wave development and wind exposure. With average wind speeds of 5.9 knots and only 2.2% wind reliability, conditions are generally light. The shallow water and enclosed nature make this primarily a beginner-friendly location, suitable for learning flat-water techniques and progression. Best conditions occur with northeast winds (45°) that align side-shore along the primary beach. Kiters should be aware of reef hazards, shallow zones requiring board control, and occasional boat activity in designated mooring areas. The spot works best during higher wind periods when trade winds establish, as typical conditions are marginal for consistent kitesurfing. Summer months may offer slightly improved conditions.
