Barneville-Plage

Barneville-Plage is a beach break located on the western coast of the Cotentin Peninsula in Normandy, France, facing south toward the English Channel. The spot features a long sandy beach backed by a developed residential area, with extensive tidal flats and shallow banks visible in the surrounding waters. This is a sheltered bay environment rather than open ocean exposure, with relatively protected conditions due to the geography. The spot is characterized by very small average waves (0.48m) and choppy water conditions, making it suitable for absolute beginners or light-wind practice rather than skill development. Wind reliability is modest at 36.6%, suggesting sessions require careful timing around weather windows. Best conditions occur with easterly (90°) or westerly (270°) winds to achieve side-shore alignment parallel to the beach. The shallow, sandy bottom and low energy make this spot accessible for beginners but limiting for progression.
