East Beach is situated in a south-facing bay with protected waters enclosed by coastal development and pier structures. The spot is characterized by sandy beach break conditions with low wave energy (0.96m average) and very limited wind reliability (0.3%). The bay's enclosed nature provides shelter but significantly reduces consistent wind access. The presence of a substantial pier and numerous moored boats restricts usable water area and creates navigation hazards. Best conditions occur with easterly winds (90°) that blow side-shore parallel to the coast. Water temperatures average 15.9°C, requiring thermal protection. This spot suits beginners due to minimal wave size and low wind speeds, making it safer for skill development. However, the extremely low wind reliability (0.3%) makes sessions infrequent and unpredictable. Kiters should be aware of pier pilings, boat traffic, and the potential for wind shadows from surrounding buildings. The sheltered bay environment typically produces lighter, gusty wind patterns affected by urban terrain. This location is better suited for flat-water progression than wave riding.
