Este del Este is a protected lagoon system on Cuba's northeastern coast, characterized by shallow turquoise waters and extensive mangrove forests. The lagoon faces northeast with a planned residential development on its western shore. The spot offers weak to moderate conditions with minimal wave generation due to shallow water depth and protected nature. Wind conditions show low reliability at 15.3%, though side-shore winds from the southeast (135°) would provide optimal conditions. The lagoon's shallow nature makes it suitable for beginners learning body dragging and basic maneuvers, as low-energy waves minimize impact risks. However, the limited fetch distance, numerous vegetation obstacles, and shallow depths present navigation challenges. Water temperatures averaging 26°C are comfortable year-round. This location is better suited for light-wind practice sessions rather than progression-focused sessions. Kiters should be aware of the residential development's potential impact on water access and wind patterns, as well as the technical challenges of maneuvering in confined shallow-water conditions.
