Fanore

Fanore is a west-facing beach break on the Clare coast of Ireland, exposed directly to Atlantic swells and prevailing westerly winds. The spot features a sandy beach with scattered rock formations and backed by low cliffs with residential development set back from the shore. The open ocean exposure provides consistent swell but results in rough-chop conditions typical of exposed Atlantic breaks. With average wind of 11.3 knots and moderate reliability at 39.8%, conditions are variable. North wind (0°) provides ideal side-shore conditions, while south wind (180°) offers alternative side-shore access. Water temperatures average 11.2°C requiring appropriate protection. The visible rocky obstacles and uneven bathymetry make this intermediate terrain - suitable for kiters comfortable reading variable conditions and navigating shallow areas. Wave heights average 1.19m but Atlantic exposure means larger swells arrive regularly. Best suited for intermediate riders with experience in exposed coastal breaks.
