Galu Beach is located on Kenya's Indian Ocean coast, facing east toward open water. The site features a wide sandy beach backed by tropical vegetation and residential structures, with gradually sloping shallow waters. This is a lagoon-style beach break with minimal wave exposure due to the shallow approach and limited fetch from the immediate offshore area. The spot experiences very low wind reliability (2.2%), with marginal average winds of 6.5 knots insufficient for consistent kitesurfing. Average wave heights of 1.06m provide minimal wave riding opportunity. Best conditions occur with northerly or southerly winds approaching side-shore angles. The site suits only beginners during rare favorable wind days, and many sessions will be underpowered. Kiters should expect to spend considerable time waiting for adequate wind conditions. The shallow waters reduce safety margins for waterstart practice. Proximity to residential areas and vegetation near the shoreline requires careful site selection for launch and recovery zones. This location is better suited as a secondary option when primary spots are unavailable rather than a reliable training destination.
