Ghjunquitu

Ghjunquitu is a sheltered bay located on Corsica's northeast coast, characterized by a northeast-facing shoreline with multiple small sandy beaches separated by rocky headlands. The bay features shallow, protected waters with good hold and minimal swell exposure due to natural breakwaters formed by rocky outcrops. This is primarily a lagoon-style spot suitable for beginners and intermediate kiters seeking calm, forgiving conditions. The narrow beaches and rocky features require careful launch and landing planning. Best conditions occur with southeasterly to southwesterly winds (side-shore), which provide reliable power without excessive chop. The shallow water (averaging under 2m in many areas) and lack of significant wave activity make this ideal for progression work and freestyle practice. However, the low average wind reliability (17.2%) and modest average wind speed (7.2 knots) mean consistent sessions are not guaranteed. Local knowledge of tidal variations and seasonal wind patterns is beneficial. Avoid strong onshore winds that create choppy conditions unsuitable for the shallow bay environment.
