Saint-Florent

Saint-Florent is a protected bay located on the northwest coast of Corsica, France. The spot features a crescent-shaped beach backed by residential development and natural forested terrain. The bay faces northeast (approximately 45°), making it sheltered from dominant northwesterly winds. The water is relatively shallow near shore with numerous moored boats indicating recreational use. The bay contains underwater rocky features visible in satellite imagery, limiting water space for kitesurfing maneuvers. Best conditions occur with northwest to north winds (315°) that provide side-shore access parallel to the main beach. The extremely low wind reliability (1.7%) and modest average wind speed (4.5 knots) suggest this bay is typically underpowered for consistent kitesurfing. Small average wave heights (0.74m) and light-swell conditions indicate dependence on wind-generated chop rather than swell. This location suits beginners on rare windy days due to shallow protected water, but consistent wind is unreliable. Boat traffic and moored vessels present navigation hazards requiring careful planning.
