Isla Mocha is an exposed open-ocean kitesurfing location off the coast of southern Chile. The coastline faces northwest toward the Pacific Ocean, creating a direct fetch exposure to Atlantic swells. The beach break features sand and shingle with visible rocky outcrops in shallow water, requiring careful approach and exit points. Average conditions include 2.66m waves and 12.6-knot winds, though reliability is moderate at 51.2%. The water temperature of 12.7°C demands appropriate protection. Best conditions occur with northeasterly winds (45°), providing side-shore conditions parallel to the northwest-facing shore. This spot suits intermediate kiters comfortable with open-ocean conditions, unprotected coastlines, and variable wind patterns.
