Kings Beach

Kings Beach is a beach break located on Queensland's east coast facing northeast toward open water. The spot features a wide, gently sloping sandy beach with extensive shallow flats and visible tidal creek systems that create complex current patterns. The beach is backed by residential development and low-lying terrain with mangrove areas inland. This location suits beginner to early-intermediate kiters due to the gentle slope, soft sand landing, and minimal wave exposure. However, the extremely low wind reliability (5.5%) makes consistent sessions problematic. Average wind of 7.1 knots is marginal for kitesurfing. The shallow water and tidal flat system provide a safe learning environment but require awareness of current changes through tidal cycles. Best conditions occur with northwesterly to westerly winds (270-315°) providing side-shore access. The narrow beach and limited fetch mean wave development is minimal. Water temperatures around 24°C are comfortable year-round. Success at this spot depends heavily on timing visits during favorable wind windows and understanding local tidal patterns.
