About This Spot
This is a narrow barrier beach spit separating a coastal lagoon system from open Atlantic waters. The beach face runs northeast-southwest, with deeper blue Atlantic water on the right (east) side and shallower green lagoon water on the left (west). The spit is characterized by fine sand beaches with visible vegetation and shell deposits. Best conditions occur with southeasterly (135°) winds, which provide side-shore angles across the beach orientation. This spot suits beginners and intermediate kiters due to shallow, protected lagoon waters that limit consequences of falls and provide easier water re-entry. Wind reliability is low (27%), making sessions conditional. Primary concerns include variable water depths, sandbars that shift seasonally, and the narrow beach width limiting upwind maneuvers. The fetch distance on the lagoon side is extremely limited. Winter offers the strongest winds but coldest water temperatures. Summer provides warmer conditions but weaker and less reliable wind patterns.
Hazards & Safety
Shallow water and sandbars in lagoon area (left/west side)
Variable water depth transitions
Vegetation and marsh vegetation on landward side
Tidal current influences in lagoon connection
Rocky/shell debris visible on beach face
Limited fetch distance from lagoon side
