Punta Pellaro

Punta Pellaro is a sheltered bay located on the Tyrrhenian coast of Calabria, Italy, facing northeast toward open water. The spot consists of a protected sandy beach area with nearshore shallows, backed by residential development and a coastal road. This is a small-scale bay break with limited exposure to open ocean swell, resulting in consistent but modest wave conditions around 0.45m average height. The water is choppy and relatively protected by the coastal geography. The spot is best suited for beginners and early intermediate kiters due to flat to small wave conditions and the enclosed nature of the bay, which provides natural wind channeling. Northwest to north winds (around 315°) will provide ideal side-shore conditions parallel to the main beach. However, low wind reliability at 9.3% and marginal average wind speeds of 7.3 knots indicate this is primarily a summer destination. Local boat traffic near the residential areas and shallow water zones require awareness. The spot is accessible but offers limited progression potential for advanced riders.
