Sorobon

Sorobon is a shallow lagoon on Bonaire's eastern coast, protected by a natural barrier of vegetation and shallow water from the open Caribbean Sea. The lagoon faces east toward the Atlantic, with a lagoon water body type characterized by extremely shallow conditions and sandy bottom visible in the satellite image. The spot features mangrove-lined shores on the western side and a narrow opening to the ocean, creating a protected but confined kitesurfing arena. The consistent trade winds (averaging 13.8 knots with 74.1% reliability) provide predictable conditions. Best wind direction is from the north, providing side-shore conditions parallel to the main lagoon orientation. This is primarily a beginner-friendly spot due to shallow water, though the limited fetch and obstacles require local knowledge. Water temperatures around 27.6°C are warm year-round. The rough-chop water conditions suggest moderate turbulence typical of enclosed water bodies.
