Tavernes is a beach break located on Spain's eastern Mediterranean coast near Valencia, facing eastward toward open water. The spot consists of a gently sloping sandy beach with agricultural development inland. The water body is the Mediterranean Sea with light swell characteristics and low energy conditions. This location presents significant challenges for kitesurfing: wind reliability is extremely low at 3.2%, and average wind speeds of only 5.3 knots are insufficient for most kitesurfing activities. Wave heights average just 0.48m, providing minimal wave riding opportunities. The spot is best suited for very light-wind days or progression in flat-water conditions when stronger winds occasionally develop from the north. Most kiters would find conditions unreliable for regular practice. Water temperatures average 19.2°C, requiring a spring suit in cooler months. The shallow sandy bottom reduces hazards but limits depth for maneuvers. This spot is marginal for dedicated kitesurfing and better suited as a secondary option on days when primary spots lack wind.
