Tigertail Park

Tigertail Park is a shallow lagoon system located on Marco Island in southwest Florida, bounded by residential development and mangrove shorelines. The spot consists of protected shallow waters separated from the Gulf of Mexico by barrier islands and sandy areas. The lagoon environment creates naturally choppy water conditions with minimal wave development. Wind conditions are highly unreliable with only 2% consistency, presenting a significant limitation for kitesurfing. The shallow depth (average waves 0.39m) and confined space make this suitable primarily for beginners and those practicing in minimal wind. The spot requires careful navigation around sandbars, shallow zones, and residential areas where boat traffic occurs. Best conditions occur with easterly winds that provide side-shore flow across the lagoon. The protected nature of the lagoon eliminates ocean swell exposure but restricts riding space and wind flow.
