Travemünde Priwall

Travemünde Priwall is a shallow-water bay spot located at the mouth of the Trave River where it meets the Lübeck Bay in the Baltic Sea. The location features a distinctive curved sandy beach with extensive shallow flats, protected by natural sandbars and forested headlands on both sides. The spot is sheltered from major swells, making it ideal for flat-water kitesurfing and freestyle practice. Best conditions occur with northwesterly winds providing side-shore flow across the bay. Water conditions are consistently flat with minimal wave exposure, making this spot suitable for beginners and intermediate kiters focused on technique development rather than wave riding. The shallow nature of the water requires awareness of depth and navigation around sandbars. Proximity to residential areas and port facilities means moderate wind reliability. This spot works well during summer months when thermal winds develop, though overall wind consistency is limited. The protected bay environment provides safety for learning but limits the advanced progression potential.
