Verket

Verket is a bay-style spot located along the eastern shore of a Norwegian fjord system near Oslo. The coastline faces east toward a sheltered bay with a narrow entrance channel. The spot is characterized by very flat water conditions with minimal wave activity, making it unsuitable for wave-riding but potentially suitable for flat-water freestyle if wind conditions align. Wind reliability is extremely poor at 1.3%, with average winds only 5.7 knots—well below typical kitesurfing minimums of 10-12 knots. The bay offers protection from open ocean swell but this also limits wind access. Visible boat traffic, commercial activity, and mooring areas indicate this is an active maritime zone requiring awareness of other water users. Best wind direction would be southerly (180°) for side-shore conditions. The spot is most suitable for absolute beginners or progression in light wind only, but the poor wind statistics make it an unreliable location for regular kitesurfing. Cold water temperatures (8°C average) require proper thermal protection.
